Ohio State alumnus Andrew Finley is always up for an adventure and he's found one that will help soldiers in need.
Finley, a 2009 graduate, is teaming up with lifelong friend Robert Messenger to embark on "Ride 4 the Wounded," a charitable bike trip that benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. Finley and Messenger are both veterans themselves, and decided they wanted to hit the road to help benefit soldiers who were injured in combat.
"Robert and I have had a first-hand look at the sacrifices so many have made for us and we just wanted to give something back," Finley said. "Raising money for this organization is a great way to do that."
An Akron native, Finley was in the Air Force National Guard for six years and served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He and Messenger, a Navy veteran, will ride from Yorktown, Virginia, to Florence, Oregon, a trek of more than 3,000 miles between May and August.
